Jiufen

Jiufen is a picturesque mountain village in northern Taiwan, just a short drive outside Taipei. We picked this location for “engagement photos” because of its lantern-lined streets and traditional tea houses that are famously reminiscent of Studio Ghibli’s film Spirited Away. We were lucky to work with a professional photographer Annie who is from another Olmsted family that is also in Taiwan.

We started the evening with a few photos from the mountain side bluff overlooking the bay. After the sun set, we transitioned to the night market walking street. The dark and narrow alleys lit exclusively by red paper lanterns made for a difficult night shoot. But Annie was excited for the challenge.
